Staying safe on MTA Market

This marketplace connects members of the Money Team Albania community. Listings are reviewed before they publish, but a review is not a guarantee. Read this before your first deal.

The one rule that matters most

Never send money in advance to someone you have not met and cannot verify. Almost every loss on a community marketplace starts with a deposit paid before the item was seen.

What MTA Market is, and what it is not

MTA Market is a listing and discovery platform. We are not a party to transactions between users, we do not hold funds, and we do not provide escrow.

We give offers structure, a permanent page, and a seller profile with history. We review listings before they publish and we remove sellers who abuse the platform. What we do not do is take part in your transaction, hold your money, verify that an item is genuine, or accept liability for a deal that goes wrong. The agreement is between you and the other member.

What verification actually means

A Verified badge means MTA performed one specific check and it passed. Telegram verified means the marketplace account is linked to a real Telegram account. Phone verified means a phone number was confirmed. Business verified means we reviewed the business details a seller provided.

A badge is never a statement that a seller is trustworthy, that an item is authentic, or that a transaction is safe. Treat it as one signal among several, alongside how long the seller has been active and what they have closed.

If you are buying

  • Inspect the item in person before you hand over any money.
  • Meet in a busy public place during the day, and bring someone with you for anything valuable.
  • Never pay a deposit, reservation fee or shipping charge to hold an item for you.
  • Be suspicious of a price far below the market rate. That is the single most common scam signal.
  • Check the seller profile: how long they have been here, how many listings they have, what they have closed.
  • Keep the conversation inside Telegram so there is a record of what was agreed.
  • Do not send codes, one time passwords or account credentials to anyone, for any reason.

If you are selling

  • Describe faults honestly. A returned item and a report cost you more than the sale.
  • Use your own photos of the actual item, not stock images pulled from the internet.
  • Confirm payment has genuinely cleared into your account before you release the item.
  • Do not accept overpayment followed by a request to refund the difference. That is always a scam.
  • Mark the listing sold as soon as the deal is done so buyers stop messaging you.

Scam signals worth walking away from

Any one of these on its own is a reason to slow down. Two of them together is a reason to stop.

  • The seller refuses to meet in person or to show the item on a video call.
  • They push you to move the conversation to another app immediately.
  • They ask for payment by gift card, crypto, or an untraceable transfer.
  • The account is brand new, has no history, and the price is unusually low.
  • They pressure you with a deadline: another buyer, an expiring price, a rush.
  • The description was clearly copied from elsewhere, or the photos have another watermark.

What we do not allow

These are refused at moderation, and posting them can suspend or ban a seller account permanently.

  • Stolen, counterfeit, replica or otherwise illegally obtained goods
  • Hacked, compromised, farmed or resold online accounts of any kind
  • Weapons, ammunition, explosives and their components
  • Drugs, controlled substances, steroids and prescription medication
  • Custody of money or cryptocurrency, escrow services, and money transmission
  • Regulated financial services, lending and investment products without legal authorisation
  • Anything promising guaranteed returns, money doubling or a no risk profit
  • Personal data, databases, identity documents and forged paperwork
  • Anything that is illegal under Albanian or Kosovan law

Crypto and peer to peer trading, and the buying and selling of social media accounts, are disabled on this marketplace by default. They stay disabled until the MTA team confirms the legal and platform policy position for each one.

Reporting something

Every listing has a Report action, and you do not need an account to use it. Reports go straight into the moderation queue, where an administrator can suspend a listing or a seller immediately while it is reviewed.

If you believe a crime has taken place, report it to the police as well. We can remove a listing and suspend an account, but we cannot investigate or recover your money.
